What You Should Know About Your Peugeot Key Fob
Peugeot Key Fob lets drivers start the car from afar. This can be beneficial in extreme temperatures and allows drivers to warm up the engine and interior before entering the vehicle.
Car dealerships can create and program new Peugeot keys for you, but only if you are willing to wait weeks for them to complete the process. We can cut keys, program them, and then deliver new Peugeot keys much more quickly at KeyNOW.
Keyless Entry
Some key fobs are also able to help start the engine of your car. This is useful if you need to leave the vehicle on hot days or if you're carrying heavy objects in the boot which make it difficult to open the door manually. Press the unlock button on the key fob a few times quickly to start the car. The door locks will close and a red light will start to flash. If this does not occur the battery for your key fob may be dead and needs to be replaced. Alternately RF interference caused by nearby buildings could interfere with your system.

Another interesting feature is that certain key fobs come with a physical key to unlock the car (often only for the driver's door but sometimes for the boot too). You can open them by lifting a flap or pressing a button. The physical key can be removed from the slot in the case.
Key fobs may be damaged by water - particularly when the chips inside are exposed to salty or soapy water. In some instances, key fobs will cease to function completely due to damage to the chip. In this scenario the key fob has to be replaced by the dealer. Locksmiths can provide replacement keys much quicker and at a lower price than dealerships.
Remote Start
If your key fob includes the remote start feature it will allow you to turn on the engine without needing to hold the keys to your car in hands. This is especially useful when it's hot outside and you want to cool your vehicle while running some errands. There are a few things that you should know prior to using this feature.
Some key fobs have an exclusive remote engine start button (for example Ford's key fob sports an arrow that is circular and going clockwise) that you need to press to start the car remotely. Mazdas, for example, require you to lock the key first and then press the Start button.
If you're unable start your car, you could have a weak or dead battery inside the key fob. This is due to the fact that the key fob's batteries aren't able to send an energizing signal to the car's system.
If this is the situation, you'll need to replace the batteries on your key fob or try programming it. The procedure differs for every car, but the instructions are typically found in the owner's manual. Our mobile technicians are also able to assist you with this process - we've got the specialist equipment to cut and program replacement Peugeot keys at your home, workplace or even if you're stuck at the side of the road.
Door Locks
The Peugeot 3008 remote key system allows the owner to lock and unlock their vehicle with the press of a button on the key fob. The key fob, which is different from the traditional key with an opening in the middle, is designed to store a hidden copy of the car keys inside.
It does this by using an electronic signal that is only transmitted if the key is located at a certain distance from car. A solenoid in the door lock converts the electronic command to mechanical after the signal has been detected. This is accomplished by moving a rod which controls the door locks as a key in a physical lock would do.
If you notice that a Peugeot key fob isn't locking or unlocking the car, there are several possibilities of the cause. The most frequent cause is a dead battery for the coin, which can be replaced in a matter of minutes. Other reasons include worn buttons, water damage signals interference or a faulty electronic chip.
The KeyLab on modern cars is no exception. Modern cars require extremely high level of precision in order to operate. The key fob could be programmed incorrectly, or it could have a hardware fault that prevents the vehicle from responding to the signal of the key. A licensed locksmith can reprogram the key fob, and ensure that it works with your vehicle.
Immobiliser
Peugeot was one of the first manufacturers to install an immobiliser on the key. The chip prevents the car from starting if it sees an untrue signal coming from the key to the car. This is a great feature when they're brand new, but over time the chips may wear out and cause problems. This usually starts with getting an alert stating 'anti theft system active' on the dashboard, or a warning light flashing with the message "immobiliser fault".
Normally Peugeot dealerships must be called to create and program replacement keys. Mobile locksmiths use dealer-standard equipment in their van. This means that they can design new Peugeot keys at home or at the roadside faster than dealers.
Peugeot keys usually start to malfunction when the key blade begins to wear out. This wear causes the mouth of the key to stop from feeding into the lock properly leading to wear on the locks themselves. Often simply swapping over the blade will help solve the issue. It can also be beneficial to have the teeth of the key replaced to enable them to work more smoothly. This is something only a trained auto locksmith can accomplish, but it can save you lots of trouble and cost in the long run.
